Reserves are required and supplementary readings and other materials that professors have selected for specific courses. Print items are loaned for short time periods only and are held at the Circulation Desk.
Most reserves are available electronically.

If we don't have it, we can get it for you
Remember, if the material you need is not available at the USM Libraries or online, the Libraries can usually obtain it for you. Books should be ordered through URSUS or MaineCat if possible; for journal articles and for books unavailable through URSUS or MaineCat, use Interlibrary Loan (ILLiad).
URSUS (Library Catalog)
URSUS is the book catalog for the University of Maine System Libraries, the Bangor Public Library, Maine State Library, Maine State Archives, and Maine State Law & Legislative Reference Library. Records for books, videos and other non-article materials are indexed. Online access is provided within records to online sources, such as e-books and streaming videos. To locate and access articles use any of our article databases, instead. Free delivery between URSUS-participating libraries is provided. Links to MaineCat within URSUS records provides dual searching of MaineCat member libraries and free delivery.
If URSUS doesn't have what you're looking for, use MaineCat to widen your search to all Maine libraries. You can request any book you find and it will be delivered to the USM library location of your choosing.
Your liaison librarian
The Library Liaison Program is designed to facilitate communication and foster collaboration between the Libraries and the University of Southern Maine community. Each academic department and/or major program is assigned a librarian to provide information to faculty on library collections and services.
