Topic: Health Equity in Southern Maine and Beyond

A guide to resources on the subject of health equity, particularly as it affects Southern Maine.

About This Guide

This is a guide to resources on the subject of health equity, particularly as it affects Southern Maine. Health equity is the elimination of disparities in health, including social determinants and other factors that create health disparities, so that every person has the opportunity to “attain his or her full health potential” and no one is “disadvantaged from achieving this potential because of social position or other socially determined circumstances.” While there are many facets to health equity and many population groups that experience health disparities, this guide focuses on health challenges and disparities experienced by populations in Maine.
