Citing in Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences

For many science based courses, you are required the use the American Psychology Association's (APA) citation style. By learning the parts of a citation and when and how to properly cite sources, you will avoid plagiarism and find it easier to create your list of references.

Some of the online articles you find, will provide you with citation help.

When you find an article you like, click on the article title while in the Results List.

  1. On the right side of the screen, under Tools, click on Cite.
  2. Select APA 7th edition citation style.
  3. Copy and paste to Word or in an email to yourself. If you use a citation manager, you can click on Export to Bibliographic Management Software.

*Always check the order of names, spelling, article title, and all the parts of the citation for accuracy and format (indentation, periods,...)

 

 

 

Some of the online articles you find, will provide you with citation help. To email the citation and the article as a PDF:

When you find an article you like, click on the article's PDF icon (underneath the article title) while in the Results List.

  1. On the right side of the screen, under Tools, click on the envelope icon to Email.
  2. Check the PDF box
  3. Select APA 7th edition citation style.
  4. Type in your email address
  5. In the Subject, type in abbreviated title
*Always check the order of names, spelling, article title, and all the parts of the citation for accuracy and format (indentation, periods,...)
