Available Library Spaces

General Library Space
As a publicly-funded institution, the USM Libraries are open for use by students, staff, faculty and the general public per stated policies. Rooms may be reserved for USM students, staff, and faculty. See below.

Glickman Family Library, Portland
The 2nd floor of Glickman Library is called the Learning Commons, where reference and tutoring services are provided. Due to this, the 2nd floor is NOT a quiet space. Floors 3-6 are quieter floors and The Great Reading Room on the 7th floor is a dedicated quiet space for studying,

  • Group Study Rooms - Available to student groups of 3 or more. Details and reservations via Study Room Reservations
  • Seminar 1 - Available to student groups or organizations who need room for up to 15 people Details and reservations via Study Room Reservations.
  • 423/4 - Flexible seating for up to 30. Available to most USM groups. For reservation information, call Space and Scheduling at (207) 780-5616.
  • University Events Room, 7th floor
  • Arcade, 1st floor entry

Gorham Library, Bailey Hall, Gorham
The first floor of Gorham Library serves the dual function of a computer lab and a Learning Commons in which tutoring is conducted. Due to this fact, those who seek quiet space should use the 2nd floor of Gorham Library. See below for information concerning certain rooms.

  • Group Study Rooms - Available to student groups of 3 or more. Details and reservations via Study Room Reservations
  • Seminar Room, 1st floor - Available to student groups or organizations who need room for up to 16 people. Details and reservations are available via Study Room Reservations.
  • Room 223E, 2nd floor - Available to student groups of up to 10. Details and reservations via Study Room Reservations.
  • 2nd floor - Serves as open space for quiet study.

Lewiston-Auburn College Library
The Commons @ Lewiston-Auburn College is a combined library and computer lab with computers and a computer classroom on one floor. Note: While there is no designated quiet area, the entire Commons is generally a quiet environment. There are three available study rooms: 

  • Room 147B is open access and has two tables that can comfortably seat up to 12 people.
  • Room 147A has one table for up to 6 people, and a computer. Details and reservations via Study Room Reservations.
  • Room 145E is open access and has seating for 4 people. 

In addition, if these rooms are occupied, any student can request an empty classroom for presentation practice or group study. Reservations can be made at LAC's Request Room Reservation.
