Finding Our Voices is a Maine-based nonprofit founded and led by women survivors of domestic abuse. We alert the general public to the complexity and emergency of domestic abuse through bold awareness campaigns and provide tangible assistance to victims including financial assistance, pro bono dental services, peer-to-peer support, and healing retreats. etc.

The Wabanaki Women’s Coalition’s mission is to increase the capacity of tribal communities to respond to domestic and sexual violence, and influence tribal, national, and regional systems to increase awareness, safety, justice, and healing for all our relations.

Statewide domestic violence organization with a 24 hour helpline. They will direct you to your local resource center. They assist with education, policy development, awareness, etc.

Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MECASA) provides resources for individuals, initiates victim-centered policies to end abuse, primary prevention education, and works with other groups to end sexual assault.

Finding Our Smiles was started by Finding Our Voices to provide pro-bono dental procedures for Maine women and child survivors of domestic abuse courtesy of kind-hearted general dentists, oral surgeons, orthodontists, and dental labs!

A Duluth, Minnesota domestic abuse intervention program created the Power & Control Wheel. "Over several months, we convened focus groups of women who had been battered. We listened to heart-wrenching stories of violence, terror, and survival. After listening to these stories and asking questions, we documented the most common abusive behaviors or tactics that were used against these women. The tactics chosen for the wheel were those that were most universally experienced by battered women."
