Introduction

Research can be challenging — let us help you.

Finding the resources you need when conducting research as an undergraduate student, graduate student, or as a professional scholar can be challenging.

Our staff of professional librarians are available to help you anytime during library hours, in person, by phone, email, or chat.

We can save you time by quickly directing you to, and showing you how to use the best available sources for your research area.

As a USM student, staff, or faculty member you have 24/7 online access off-campus to thousands of peer-reviewed journals, e-books, free inter-library loan, and so much more.

What Services Do We Offer Students?

Contact us, we'd like to help! Plus with empty rooms like this, we're lonely.

As a student, we offer a number of services to assist you with your research & coursework. For those who can visit us on one of our three campuses we offer walk-in assistance locating, requesting, or citing books, scholarly articles, and other materials. We also offer individually scheduled research consulting appointments for more in depth assistance. But you don't have to be on campus to contact us for help!

If you can't visit us on campus or need some assistance when we're closed, we provide web-based guides to research and materials by subject area. We also provide research guides tailored to a particular course, if your instructor has requested it. Additionally we provide a growing set of research skills tutorials.

Some courses, such as Environmental Science 197 (ESP 197), are taught by some of our librarians and offer training in essential research methods.
