UMS Libraries Integrated Library System (ILS) Transition

What you need to know

The transition will move from an older system to a much newer system, and this is a full move, not an upgrade. Due to this type of transition the following are important changes that the UMSL community needs to be aware of and do before June 7.

Saved Searches in Catalog

If you have saved searches in your account in the current catalog (URSUS), these will all go away. What you need to do:

  1. Log into your library account and retrieve your search lists by exporting them to email, screen (to print), or to your computer. We recommend using "Brief Display."
  2. Do this prior to June 6, 2024.
  3. Contact USM Library staff if you need assistance.

Persistent Link Changes

If you saved links to records in the catalog, those links will change. What you need to do:

  1. Before the go-live date, make sure you know the titles/authors of the records you linked to in URSUS (online catalog) and/or OneSearch.
  2. Approximately 1-2 weeks after the go-live date, you can search for and update these links.
  3. Contact USM Library staff if you need assistance.

Ensure Your ILLiad Account is Set Up

USM patron requesting via MaineCat (which includes Colby, Bates, Bowdoin, Portland Public, and many other Maine public and academic libraries) will be disabled from May 31 through the fall, as we work to integrate our new ILS.

The easiest way to request items from these libraries while MaineCat requesting is offline will be via ILLiad. If you do not already have an ILLiad account, we recommend creating one as soon as possible. More information, including how to create an account and how to get ILLiad assistance, can be found in our ILLiad FAQ.
